Frequently Asked Questions

Your Questions, Answered.

If you've never visited a dentist in Mexico before, or if you're weighing a major procedure like implants, you probably have questions. Good. We'd rather you ask everything up front. Here are the ones we hear most often.

About Implants

How long do dental implants last?

With proper care — regular brushing, flossing, and professional cleanings — dental implants are designed to last a lifetime. The implant itself (the titanium post) integrates permanently with your jawbone. The crown on top may need replacement after 15–20 years depending on wear.

What is a same-day implant, and am I a candidate?

A same-day (monophasic) implant uses a flapless surgical technique combined with digital intraoral scanning to place a functional implant in a single appointment — without traditional incisions or a multi-month waiting period.

Candidacy depends on your bone volume, gum health, and the complexity of your case. Dr. Magallanes will tell you honestly at your consultation whether you qualify.

Is the implant procedure painful?

The procedure itself is performed under local anesthesia — you will not feel pain during placement. Some patients experience mild soreness and swelling in the days following, manageable with over-the-counter pain relief. Most patients are surprised by how tolerable the recovery is.

How much do dental implants cost at your clinic?

Implant pricing varies depending on the number of implants, the complexity of the case, and whether additional procedures (such as bone grafting) are needed. We are transparent about implant pricing ranges during your consultation — we'll give you a clear, complete treatment cost before anything is scheduled.

Can I get dental implants if I've been told I don't have enough bone?

Possibly. Bone grafting can rebuild the necessary bone volume in many cases before implant placement. Dr. Magallanes will assess your bone density with a CBCT 3D scan during your consultation and tell you directly what's possible.

Visiting from Arizona

Cross-Border Care Questions

Common concerns from patients crossing the border for the first time.

Arizona Patients Guide →
Is it safe to get dental work done in Nogales, Mexico?

Yes — when you choose a credentialed specialist with a properly equipped clinic. Dr. Magallanes is a licensed Implantology Specialist and Oral Surgeon (Cédula Profesional 5844101), trained through accredited Mexican dental institutions, and a member of COECIO.

Our clinic uses hospital-grade sterilization and state-of-the-art technology. We recommend researching any provider thoroughly, regardless of which side of the border they're on.

Do you speak English?

Yes. Dr. Magallanes and our team are fully bilingual. Your entire visit — consultation, treatment planning, and aftercare — can be conducted in English.

Do you accept American insurance?

Yes, we accept American private insurance plans (PPO and similar). AHCCCS and Medicare are not accepted. Bring your insurance card to your appointment and we'll assist with the process.

What documents do I need to cross the border?

US citizens need a valid US passport (or passport card) to re-enter the United States. SENTRI pass holders can use the SENTRI lane for faster crossing. You do not need any special documentation for a dental visit.

What if I need follow-up care after returning to Arizona?

For most procedures — cleanings, single-visit treatments, same-day implants — no follow-up is required. For more complex or multi-stage treatments, we schedule follow-up appointments accordingly and coordinate with your timeline.

We are always reachable by phone and WhatsApp for questions after your visit.

Do you treat children?

Yes. We provide full pediatric dental care — cleanings, sealants, fluoride treatments, and early orthodontic evaluation. We work patiently with children and move at a pace that keeps them comfortable.

What if I have dental anxiety?

You're not alone — it's one of the most common reasons people delay dental care. We take dental anxiety seriously. Dr. Magallanes takes time to explain each step before doing it, moves at a calm pace, and never rushes a procedure.

Our clinic environment — with music and aromatherapy — is designed specifically to reduce the clinical tension many patients feel. Talk to us about your concerns before your appointment. We'll do everything we can to make the experience manageable.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Three ways: book online using the button on this page, call us directly, or send a WhatsApp message. Any method works — we'll confirm your appointment quickly and answer any questions before your visit.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes, for qualifying treatments we can structure a payment plan directly through our clinic. We do not work with third-party financing companies. Ask about payment options when you contact us.

What should I do if I have a dental emergency?
