The Gold Standard

What Is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a small titanium post that is surgically placed into your jawbone — replacing the root of a missing tooth. Over time, it fuses permanently with the bone in a process called osseointegration. A custom crown is then attached on top, creating a replacement tooth that looks, feels, and functions exactly like a natural one.

Unlike a bridge, an implant doesn't require grinding down adjacent healthy teeth. Unlike a denture, it's fixed in place — you never remove it, never worry about it shifting, and never think about it again.

For most patients who are missing one or more teeth, a dental implant is the closest thing to getting your natural tooth back.

We Offer Every Type of Implant Solution.

From replacing a single tooth to a full arch — Dr. Magallanes handles every case personally, using digital planning for predictable, precise outcomes.

One missing tooth replaced with one implant and one crown. The most common implant procedure. No modification to adjacent teeth required.

Two or more individual implants placed independently. Each one functions on its own — preserving bone structure across multiple gaps.

Best for: several missing teeth

04

Implant-Supported Bridge

Two implants support a bridge spanning three or more teeth. Fewer implants needed than individual replacements, while still preserving bone and avoiding removable dentures.

Best for: 3+ consecutive missing teeth
05

All-on-4 / All-on-6

A full arch of teeth — upper or lower — supported by just 4 or 6 implants. A fixed, permanent solution for patients with most or all teeth missing. No more removable dentures.

Implant + Bone Graft

When bone loss is present, a bone graft rebuilds the necessary volume before implant placement. Many patients who have been told they're "not a candidate" qualify after grafting.

Best for: significant bone loss cases
The Process

What Happens During an Implant Procedure?

Every implant case at Dental & Implant Center follows a precise, technology-driven process that begins before you even sit in the chair.

1
Digital Consultation & Imaging

CBCT 3D scan and intraoral digital scan map your bone structure and jaw anatomy precisely. No guesswork. Dr. Magallanes reviews your case personally and tells you exactly what's possible.

2
Implant Placement

Under local anesthesia, the titanium post is placed into the jawbone. For same-day eligible patients, this is done flaplessly — no incisions, no sutures. For traditional cases, a small incision is made and sutured closed after placement.

3
Osseointegration

The titanium post fuses with your jawbone over 2–6 months. During this period a temporary crown may be placed. For same-day cases, a functional temporary is placed immediately.

4
Final Crown Placement

Once integration is confirmed, your permanent custom crown is attached. Fabricated in-office using CAD/CAM technology — matched precisely to your surrounding teeth in shape and shade.

Technology We Use
  • Intraoral Digital ScannerPrecise 3D mapping — no messy impressions
  • CBCT 3D ImagingFull bone structure assessment before any procedure
  • CAD/CAM Crown FabricationIn-office crowns — no outside lab, no extra wait
  • Hospital-Grade Sterilization3-step steam sterilization protocol on all instruments

Am I a Candidate?

Most adults with good general health are candidates for dental implants. The key factors are sufficient bone density and healthy gums. Even patients with bone loss may qualify after a grafting procedure.

The only way to know for certain is a consultation with Dr. Magallanes — with your digital scans in hand, he'll give you an honest, specific answer at no charge.

Common Questions

Dental Implant FAQ

How long do dental implants last?

With proper care, dental implants are designed to last a lifetime. The titanium post fuses permanently with your jawbone through osseointegration — this integration doesn't degrade over time. The crown attached on top may need replacement after 15–20 years depending on normal wear. With regular cleanings and good home hygiene, many patients never need the crown replaced at all.

Is the implant procedure painful?

The procedure itself is performed under local anesthesia — you won't feel anything during placement. Afterward, most patients experience mild soreness and some swelling for 2–3 days, which is well-managed with over-the-counter anti-inflammatories. Same-day flapless implants tend to have even less post-procedure discomfort than traditional surgical placement, since no incisions are made.

How much do dental implants cost in Nogales, Mexico?

Implant pricing varies depending on the number of implants, the complexity of your case, and whether additional procedures such as bone grafting are needed. We provide transparent, complete pricing during your consultation — you'll know the full cost before anything is scheduled. As a general reference point, implants at Dental & Implant Center cost significantly less than comparable US clinics, without any compromise in technology or specialist credentials.

What if I've been told I don't have enough bone for implants?

This is more common than most people think — and it doesn't automatically disqualify you. Bone grafting can rebuild bone volume before implant placement in many cases. Dr. Magallanes will assess your bone density using a CBCT 3D scan and tell you honestly whether grafting is needed and whether your case is suitable. Patients who have been turned away elsewhere have often gone on to receive successful implants here after a grafting procedure.

How long does the full implant process take?

It depends on the type of implant and your specific case. For same-day monophasic implants, eligible patients complete the procedure in a single visit. For traditional implants, the titanium post is placed and then given 2–6 months to fully integrate with the bone before the final crown is attached. Dr. Magallanes will give you a realistic timeline at your consultation based on your specific situation.

Can I get dental implants while visiting from Arizona?

Yes — and we treat many patients from Tucson, Phoenix, Sierra Vista, and Nogales AZ. For same-day implants, the entire procedure can be completed in one visit and you can drive back across the border the same day. For multi-stage cases, we coordinate appointments around your schedule and travel availability. We are fully bilingual and work with US private insurance. See our Arizona Patients guide for more details.

What's the difference between a regular implant and a same-day implant?

A traditional implant involves a surgical incision, placement of the post, sutures, and then a healing period of 2–6 months before the final crown. A same-day (monophasic) implant uses a flapless technique — no incisions, no sutures — guided by a digital intraoral scan, and a functional restoration is placed the same day. The key difference is eligibility: same-day implants require sufficient bone density and are not suitable for every case. Learn more about our same-day implant procedure.
